Your Admiral subjects his prisoners to indignities like this mistletoe, and you claim it is in the name of redemption.

[ Ceres' voice is bitter, if not furious. She didn't promise she wouldn't lecture. As it turns out she can't just send Aya home and be done with it. And as Aya is slow to point out, Ceres does owe her for finding the Mana, even if they didn't quite make it to retrieval. ]

Must I truly lower myself to such baseness to leave this place?

[ Aya did say she should socialize more. This is probably not what she had in mind. ]

I find it less worrying than the actual current things to worry about. Wondering about surprise kisses as directed by a plant are sort of small sugar compared to what we usually face.

Not to make light of a dire situation. I'm not.

I'm only offering one man's perspective in the hopes of shedding light.

I'm not sure anyone would find being forced anywhere to be a trivial thing. Regardless of. Gender.

But the mistletoe isn't hurting anyone. Except for dogs. I think I remember reading that it was poisonous to dogs, which is another good reason to have it hung high.

As an owner of a local dog, I'm very concerned about his susceptibility to mistletoe. He's had a few close calls and I don't think I can bring him back from the dead.

Again.

The point is I don't think the mistletoe is hurting anyone.

No one's getting hurt by it. I'd say that's a pretty safe bet to make.

Usually I get 'hopelessly naive.'

And I don't think I was being arrogant. At least I was trying not to be. I was trying very much to be wishing for the best given the general observations made in the days since the mistletoe appeared.

Do you want me to help take down some of the mistletoe?

How about a compromise.

I'll take it down near your door and the doors to the left and right of you.

And you can't just. Take them down yourself.

There's no one requirement. Everyone's different. Everyone has to do different things.

It'll be easier when you're assigned and someone is working with you.

Please note that I'm saying this not out of any attempt to be mean or cruel but to look at your current situation as realistically as possible in order to tackle the problems at hand:

I don't think you have too much of a choice.

I'm sorry.
